Street Lamps - Beauties of the day

     Walking along the streets, we are usually so “absorbed” by all that happens around us, so focused on all that moves, makes noise, attracts with colors, that we almost completely ignore the existence of silent street lamps.

Yet they are there, rain or sun, patiently waiting for their time – the evening. We somehow collectively agreed that during a day we can live quite well without them so why bother.

Then when the night comes – well, we appreciate the light, but that is pretty much all we can see and enjoy at that time.

On these pages I would like to challenge these perceptions, because many street lamps are really pieces or art with a lot of grace and stylishness greatly adding the charm and vividness to the street life, to the ambiance of the city.

I’m almost sure that after seeing these street lamps pictures, you will get inspired to start noticing them in your own area. You may appreciate their presence during a day realizing that whenever they are - they stand there for all 24 hours per day!

On the right - You may easily guess that the street lamp in form of an anchor is from the seaside. Indeed, this one is from Los Gigantes in Tenerife.

Bryant Park lamps add a beautiful decoration to this oasis of nature in the center of the NYC.

On the left - Costa Rica: These small flying insects found the nesting place behind the lamp's fixture (we all know that the darkest spot is always under the lamp).

On the right- the lamp itself is not of a particular beauty, but the place (village Masca in Tenerife) is absolutely breathtaking....
