On the left - Brothers at least for an afternoon nap, regardless the color of the skin! Isn't that a beautiful example warming the heart? And do you see - (in the middle photo) there is still place left for the "neighbor"...
On the left: Isnt' this a striking example of the harmony and peace in an animal world?
Who of us did not have a dog at one point in our lives? We like it or not but dogs became almost members of our families. Due to their friendliness, intelligence, social skills – they gained the nickname “Man’s best friend”…..
Looking back into history – all dogs are descendants of gray wolf domesticated some 15000 years ago.
I know – it is hard to believe it because most all these lovely creatures we see these days around seemingly have very little common traits with their ancestors. How Chihuahua – one of the smallest (and funniest) dogs can measure to the gray wolf you may ask?
The answer is quite simple – for millennia dogs were mainly used for very practical reasons – for their hunting skills, protection, herding, transport (especially in the Big North) …..
But then with the progress of civilization easing the burdens of life dogs slowly started to assume their new and most important role - companionship.
And that changed everything – with our typical disrespect for the nature we started “shaping” dogs to our needs, to our visions of beauty, to fulfill our strong needs for friendship, for a companion that does not ask questions and does not question our decisions.
Opening the Pandora Box of intentional breeding and interbreeding process led to hundreds of new dogs’ breeds largely varying in their appearance (shape, color of coat, size etc…) and behavior.
So here we are today - dogs took positions of our favorite pets you can find in any shape, color, pattern, size and “taste” to fulfill our dreams (not sure about their dreams). And although personally I still love my old German Shepherd I also understand that it is difficult to be “unmoved” by the incredible charm of all these small Chihuahua-like beings.
